Yes, GeoCeramica® can be installed on a sand bed, making it a versatile choice for a variety of outdoor flooring projects. For proper installation, use clean masonry sand with a minimum thickness of 10 cm for well-drained soil or 20 cm for poorly permeable substrates such as clay or peat. This easy-to-install system allows for fast, stable placement of porcelain pavers, whether you’re creating luxury patio flooring, a durable driveway surface, or a modern outdoor walkway.
Without adequate drainage, moisture can become trapped between the new pavement and the existing slab, increasing the potential for saturation, freeze–thaw-related movement, biological growth, and deterioration of bedding materials. The slab should be evaluated for structural integrity, excessive cracking, differential settlement, and proper drainage. Significant movement or instability in the existing concrete is likely to reflect through the new pavement system and should be corrected before installation.
- 2 in. (50 mm) diameter weep holes are required and should be drilled to be spaced every 10 ft (3 m) along the lowest elevations
- These holes should extend to the soil subgrade to drain the bedding layer. • Fill holes with pea gravel and cover with geotextile prior to placing the bedding layer.
- It is recommended to screed at least 3/4″ to no more than 1 1/4″ of bedding layer (#8 or #9 stone) between the concrete and GeoCeramica units to allow for proper leveling
- Make sure a proper surface slope is used when screeding bedding layer
- Keep the bedding layer thickness consistent
- Be sure to follow any existing control joints in the concrete through the newly installed pavement
- Install appropriate edge restraint Thought should be given to elevations of new or pre-existing pool copings, drains, access points, door thresholds, pool hardware such as diving boards, railings, pool cover anchors, etc.
To ensure proper drainage and prevent water pooling, a slope of 1 cm per meter is recommended when installing GeoCeramica® outdoor porcelain pavers. This gentle gradient helps direct water away from the surface, protecting the integrity of your patio tiles, walkways, driveways, or other outdoor flooring projects.
Maintaining the correct slope is essential for achieving long-lasting, high-performance results with luxury outdoor flooring systems.
- Open pallets carefully and ensure tiles are stable before cutting the straps.
- Do not let tiles rest on their tips.
- Use a water-cooled saw table for cutting to prevent overheating.
- Use a completely round diamond disc for cutting to avoid burning or damaging edges.
Yes, light bulging is permissible with GeoCeramica® porcelain pavers and is considered normal due to the nature of the materials and manufacturing process. To achieve a uniform, attractive appearance—especially with larger 120×30 cm outdoor tiles—it’s important to avoid using a half-brick pattern. Instead, we recommend a 1/3 – 2/3 staggered pattern, which minimizes the visual impact of any slight bowing and enhances the overall look of your luxury outdoor flooring, whether it’s for patios, walkways, or driveways.
If any visible damage is noticed upon receiving your GeoCeramica® porcelain pavers or outdoor tile products, it’s important to report the issue to the supplier immediately—before installation begins. Prompt reporting ensures that any concerns can be addressed quickly and that your luxury outdoor flooring project stays on track.
Inspect all patio tiles, driveway pavers, and walkway materials upon delivery to confirm they arrive in perfect condition, and avoid using any damaged pieces during installation.
