Rosetta Hardscapes FAQs
Rosetta Hardscapes products are manufactured from high-quality wet-cast concrete. This manufacturing process allows for realistic natural stone textures, detailed edges, and rich color variation that closely resembles quarried stone while providing the durability of concrete.
Sealing is not required, but it is highly recommended. A quality penetrating sealer designed for wet-cast concrete can help protect against dirt, leaf stains, spills, deicing salts, and freeze-thaw weather while making routine maintenance easier. Sealers help reduce staining but will not prevent every stain. Always follow the manufacturer’s application instructions.
Routine maintenance is simple.
For best results:
- Sweep away dirt with a broom or leaf blower.
- Remove leaves, acorns, and organic debris regularly.
- Wash with clean water and a mild detergent when needed.
- Use a plastic-bristle scrub brush for stubborn spots.
- Test specialty cleaners in a small area before treating the entire surface.
Avoid pressure washers at close range and never use metal wire brushes, which can damage the concrete surface and potentially cause rust staining.
Pressure washing is generally not recommended. High-pressure water can damage the textured surface of wet-cast concrete. Instead, clean with water, mild detergent, and a plastic-bristle brush whenever possible.
Efflorescence is a natural white, chalky mineral deposit that can appear on concrete products. It does not affect the strength, durability, or structural integrity of Rosetta Hardscapes.
In many cases, efflorescence fades naturally over time or can be removed with cleaners specifically designed for concrete efflorescence.
No. Because efflorescence is a naturally occurring characteristic of concrete, it is not considered a manufacturing defect and is not covered under the Rosetta Hardscapes warranty.
Color variation is completely normal and is one of the characteristics that gives Rosetta products their natural stone appearance.
To achieve the best overall look, installers should pull materials from several pallets during installation to blend the natural color variations evenly throughout the project.
Yes. Wet-cast concrete stains can be applied if you’d like to alter the appearance of your Rosetta products. Always test the stain on a spare piece or inconspicuous area before treating the entire project.
Because Rosetta products contain integral color throughout the concrete, small chips are often difficult to notice.
If desired, matching concrete stain can be lightly dabbed onto the chipped area to help blend it with the surrounding surface. Your local Rosetta dealer can recommend appropriate touch-up products.
Yes. Like most concrete products, excessive use of deicing salts and harsh chemicals can accelerate surface deterioration. Limiting their use will help maximize the lifespan and appearance of your hardscape.
Use plastic snow shovels or equipment fitted with plastic blades or guards whenever possible. Metal blades can scratch or chip the textured concrete surface.
Most Rosetta slab products are designed for pedestrian applications only.
However, Rosetta New Mission and Amaro pavers are designed for residential vehicular traffic and can be used in properly constructed driveways. When compacting these pavers during installation, a urethane pad should be used to protect the surface.
Polymeric haze is a cloudy residue that can occur when polymeric sand is improperly installed. The haze does not affect the structural integrity of Rosetta products and can often be cleaned or fade over time with proper treatment.
Occasionally, packaging materials may leave temporary color variations where they contacted the concrete. These marks typically fade with weathering and do not affect product performance or durability.
With proper installation and routine maintenance, Rosetta Hardscapes retaining walls, patios, fire pits, steps, and outdoor living products are designed to provide decades of beauty and performance. Periodic cleaning and optional sealing can help keep them looking their best.
